Located in Hood River at 2827 W Cascade Ave, Hood River, OR 97031 with a view of the beautiful Mt Adams, this Mexican restaurant is a must try restaurant in Hood River. On first impression, the outside is new, clean, and well kept with a few nice decorations outside and a beautiful view of Mt Adams. There is even a bike rack if you happen to be able to make it with your bike. There is plenty of parking, and the parking lot is open and spacious. Ixtapa is very easy to find and it really is one of the restaurants that you can’t really miss once you turn off exit 62 coming from Portland to Hood River if you keep looking to your right you will see the sign, and the restaurant is located across from Wal-Mart here in Hood River.
On first impression, everything is clean and brand new. The restaurant is relatively new to Hood River at this particular location and previously this restaurant was located across the street near the local Goodwill and a few other places to eat such as Pelentis Pizza and Lalo’s Hawaiian Grill.
The outside does have a few nice decorations and upon opening the door you will see two nice decorations on either side. Very nicely done interior decorating and you will also notice that upon entering the restaurant. You will then notice the front reception. I was greeted with enthusiasm and snapped a picture of course of the entrance.

Menu Options and Chips and Salsa
There is a wide selection of food and I must say that I have never had a bad experience here as the food has always been exceptional and great. The dine in experience starts with the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa that it comes with is red and it also comes with chopped vegetables, on the house of course. I ordered a black unsweetened ice tea and that came with a lemon. The flavor of the tea was good. I am a tea drinker, although I’m not sure if it was lipton or another brand but I can vouch for the fact that the flavor was good unsweetened and that does come from someone who has drank teas throughout the world.

Main Meal: Sopa de Albondigas
I ended up ordering the Sopa de Albondigas the large one priced at 14.25. It is a pork meatball and vegetable soup and once this arrived I gave it a try and the temperature was great. Not too hot, but very great first impression of this soup. On a cold day this would be my go do item for sure. It has a lot of vegetables and the slightly salty flavor was perfect, not too much or not too little. The soup did have two small potatoes and those were done well. Not too hard to bite into, but not mushy either. Very well done soup, the flavor was great and totally recommended. The soup is not spicy either, so if you are worried that it has too many spices that should not be a concern.

I love going here as the restaurant is brand new, the staff and service have been excellent and the overall cleanliness is perfect. Everything I have tried here at Ixtapa has been very good and I have heard nothing but great things about them locally here and I definitely recommend stopping in here if you happen to come off of exit 62 going into Hood River, especially if you have kids or a family to feed, they will be glad everyone stopped in to this restaurant. Highly recommended and can’t wait to try more of their menu items soon!
